The science that scrutinizes matter is named chemistry. It was born out of alchemy, an old science which sought, among other things, to find the elixir of life and do gold of iron. Today's chemistry mainly works with atoms, compounds, reactions that occur between matters, and changes of energy which occur during these reactions. Another objective of that modern science is to determine the laws that can explain the processes and phenomena in chemical reactions. It can assist to create the needed matters artificially. Chemistry, biology and physics are the sciences which have got lots of joint objectives.

Inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry analytical chemistry, physical and biological chemistry are the chapters of general definition “Chemistry”.
