Punk started in the 1974 as an irksome, guerilla uprising against mainstream music charted by the number or sales. Rock ensambles alike Green Day, the Offspring, and Rancid boosted punk music back in 1990. This time the mesh of speedy, simple rock music with sweet-sounding pop melodies took hold on the MTV. Today, self-styled pop punk is the main part in the world of chart music. These 10 music tracks are fine starting points to get closer to pop punk.
1. blink-182 - Enema of the State
In blink-182's never-ending struggle to insult any adults in the vicinity, this tape showed a model clothed as an enema au pair girl on the booklet. The punk pop inside is teenage and catchy including the massive hit single “Mutt.”
2. The Donnas - Spend the Night
Girls can perform punk, too, and this album is a profuse evidence of that. The group modeled themselves after the first punk rock group Ramones with every member taking the name Donna. Download Pressure to listen to it.
3. Good Charlotte - Young and the Hopeless
A band from Maryland Good Charlotte blasted into the top 10 of the popular music album chart with this set. It's full with history of university and problem parents. The smashing hit track is “Lifestyles Of the Rich and Famous.”
4. Green Day - Jesus of Suburbia
After fading from their nineties peak of popularity, Green Day faded to the studio to put together punk rock's first opera. Though the American band was nervous about their fanclub's attitude to Letterbomb, it turned out to be an American rock classic topping the album chart and gaining an award for Best Punk Album of 2004.
5. The Lemonheads - It's a Shame About Ray
The Lemonheads' lead singer Evan Griffith Dando is the only punk performer to be known as a true teen hero. Along the way the rock band recorded some breathtaking songs, too, featuring “The Turnpike Down”, “Download Paramore” and “Rest Assured” on this album.
6. The Offspring - Killboy Powerhead
The Offspring a highly influential American rock band were one of the true punk revival bands from the middle of nineties. On many occasions their songs melted with hard rock and heavy metal with guitar-and-drums-centered sound, but their best music is pure punk. “Come Out and Play” and “Self Esteem” are far beyond what is customary on this DVD.
7. Rancid - Daly City Train
Rancid a lot like late 70's classic punk as the Clash. They also use the of ska in almost all of their studio albums.
8. Simple Plan - Still Not Getting Any…
This group from Canada showed up in the limelight in October with their album Perfect. This 2nd album is even better and covers the hit song “Addicted.”
9. Sum 41 - All Killer No Filler
The mp3 “Handle This” helped propel this album into the top 20. Sum 41 introduce clever humor into much of their music. Download When It Rains to get an impression of what we are talking about.
10. Weezer - Surf Wax America (Blue Album)
Despite the fact that they are venerated as initiators of the anti-establishment rock music genre, Weezer's records are also true punk pop. “Undone - The Sweater Song” was their 1st hit and then a clip putting the rock band in a Happy Days episode helped make “Buddy Holly” even bit more popular.
